Jiuzhaigou
Jiuzhaigou, translated as the Valley of Nine Villages, received its name from the nine Tibetan villages located there and remains one of the most well-preserved valleys in China. It is a national park north of Chengdu (capital of Sichuan) and at the edge of the Tibetan Himalayan Plateau in the Minshan mountain range where visitors are swept away by the scenery of lakes, waterfalls, karsts and unique wildlife. The area is one of the few giant panda sanctuaries in the country and is home to more than 220 bird species, a number of endangered plant and animal species, including the Sichuan golden monkey and others.
