The Idea Is Born

After living in China for two years, Jeff began receiving requests from friends and family to help plan their China tours. As an avid traveler himself, Jeff was enthusiastic about sharing his perspectives on China with new arrivals by creating custom travel itineraries. He took it as his personal mission to offer honest advice as people planned their dream China vacations. With Jeff’s guidance and advice a few of these travelers booked their trips through a local travel company. On returning to the US, some passed Jeff’s contact information to friends and family, introducing him as “the guy to talk to” about China travel.

Starting the Company

In the following months these casual tour and information requests increased. Early customers were attracted and impressed by Jeff’s professionalism and knowledge of the industry, and also his personalized attention to detail. This was highly refreshing as most of them were tired of large group travels with restricting and exhausting itineraries, mediocre service, and infamous tourist traps.

As the months went by and the number of requests increased, Jeff chose the name Lune Tours and built a website to manage all travel inquiries. He also formed cooperative relationships with quality travel companies across China. These relationships are still the foundation for the Lune Tours network of travel providers today. Then in 2008, Lune Tours was officially registered as a corporation.

Expanding the Business

Since Jeff’s humble beginnings as an unpaid travel consultant, Lune Tours has grown into a full-service travel agency. Lune Tours now provides a complete range of services to leisure travelers, corporations, and educational groups not only in China, Hong Kong and Tibet, but also Nepal and Bhutan. Today Lune Tours continues to grow with more customers, increased partnerships, and expansion into other Asia Pacific destinations.
